I Didn’t Know They Are Vegan!
Eight celebrities that have adopted a vegan lifestyle
More and more people are turning vegan, celebs included. More are jumping on the bandwagon for many reasons, health and well-being, or because of environmental issues. Here are eight people, you might be interested to know, that are following a vegan lifestyle.
#1 Will Young
The 2002 Pop Idol winner became vegan back in 2009, after being vegetarian for years.
Back in 2021, he even joined animal rights protesters outside the ‘Camp Beagle’ puppy farm, MBR Acres, Wyton in Cambridgeshire.
Protesting for the closure of this dog-breeding centre for animal testing, Will even handcuffed himself to the gates! You can read about it here.
He obviously wasn’t looking to ‘leave right now’ – fair play to Will for defending animal welfare. He’s not only a talented singer but a really nice guy too.
#2 Roxy Shahidi
The actress who plays Leyla Harding in the long-running soap Emmerdale has been vegan since the age of 21. Before then she was vegetarian from the age of eight.
As well as having a great diet, Roxy is a qualified yoga instructor with her own YouTube channel.
That’s how she looks so good!
#3 Chrissie Hynde
The frontwoman of the rock band, the Pretenders is a long-time vegetarian turned vegan.
She once owned a vegan restaurant in her home town Akron, Ohio.
I guess you could say she was spreading the ‘message of love’ for the animals.
#4 Coleen Nolan
The former member of the pop group, the Nolans, went vegan for health reasons.
As well as presenting on the talk show Loose Women, she has been sharing her own vegan recipes with a cooking segment featured on the show, filmed at her home. Her daughter Ciara, appeared with her as fellow chef.
Like me, Coleen keeps pet goats.
‘I’m in the mood for dancing’ was a good song, very catchy!
#5 Bryan Adams
The Canadian musician is also involved with a lot of humanitarian work, plus animal rights activism.
He is also an acclaimed photographer, and has even photographed our own Queen Elizabeth II for her golden jubilee.
He really is a talented guy.
Now, what was the name of that song that was number one forever…
#6 James Moore
James, who plays Ryan Stocks in the ITV soap, Emmerdale, became vegan after watching the documentary ‘Earthlings.’
He, along with his partner, Sophie Edwards, are both ambassadors for the organisation Veganuary.
Maybe he could get Marlon Dingle to create a vegan menu at the Woolpack!
#7 Mayim Bialik
Fans of the show, the Big Bang Theory will know her as Amy. I remember her playing a young Bette Midler in the 1988 film, Beaches.
As well as playing a neuroscientist, Mayim actually has a degree in neuroscience. What a clever lady, vegan and brainy!
She has also shared some of her own vegan recipes here.
#8 Justin Hawkins
After his wife told him about the cruelty in the meat and dairy industry, Justin and his family are now vegan. He explains it all beautifully here.
He obviously believes in a thing called love!
And there you have it…
Eight celebs who have taken the vegan stance. Although I originally compiled this list for fun, it highlights the importance of having high-profile vegans. In their positions they can raise awareness for the cause. They can use their influence to spread the word.
